Your Gifts Make a Difference
Agrace HospiceCare relies on the generosity of our community Although the cost of basic hospice services is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and most commercial insurers, a number of essential Agrace HospiceCare programs are underfunded or not funded at all by these sources. Community gifts help ensure that Agrace HospiceCare can address these services as well as emerging community and operational needs, which decreases our dependence on reimbursement sources. Your generosity helps fund the programs described below:
Charity Care Agrace has never turned anyone away because of an inability to pay for our hospice services. Gifts from the community help ensure that those who cannot afford to pay receive the care they need. We serve approximately 20 patients every year through our charity care program.
Volunteer Training & Appreciation Agrace’s 1,000 volunteers serve in a variety of roles, including direct service to patients and families. Community support funds the comprehensive training needed to prepare volunteers for their roles and also funds the recognition programs that sustain their commitment to serve.
Respite Care Providing end-of-life care for a family member or friend can leave caregivers fatigued and stressed. To give them a break of up to five days, Agrace offers respite care. Insurance reimbursement for respite care covers less than 25 percent of the total cost of this service. Community gifts help bridge the gap.
Clinical Education & Training Programs Agrace HospiceCare is committed to developing top-notch palliative health-care providers in our community. Community gifts support the AgraceHospiceCare Palliative Fellowship, which offers palliative-care rotations and continuing education opportunities for physicians in training.
Grief & Bereavement Services Every year, more than 8,000 people, including 300 children, use Agrace HospiceCare’s grief services to help them cope with the loss of a loved one. Although bereavement services are required by state and federal regulations and are critical to helping families return to functional living after their loss, they are not covered by insurance, Medicare or Medicaid. Fortunately, gifts from our community mean these groups are available to everyone in our community, free of charge.
