It is with great pleasure that Agrace HospiceCare is proud to announce the building of a new Rock County Service Center.

This service center will be supported in Janesville through the local fundraising of a $6 million capital campaign similar to fundraising for our Don & Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center and Ellen & Peter Johnson HospiceCare Residence built in Fitchburg.

Sharing the Journey, Building the Memory is the name given to this capital campaign to build the new service center.

Sharing the Journey…

When a member of the community is in their final months of life, Agrace HospiceCare. is there to share the end-of-life journey. This journey is never easy, but when the patient is free from pain and when their emotional and spiritual needs are addressed, families are able to build memories that can sustain them for a lifetime.

That’s the high-quality experience Agrace HospiceCare envisions for all residents of our community.

Building the Memory

To provide access to this level of care, Agrace HospiceCare’s facilities must have adequate space for staff and volunteers to coordinate patient care, provide grief support and host educational events. The mission of Sharing the Journey, Building the Memory Capital Campaign is to ensure that, throughout our community, current and future generations will have access to exceptional hospice services.

Defining the Need

In the last few years, Agrace HospiceCare has outgrown its existing building in Janesville. Extensive research indicates a growing demand for hospice services in the Rock County area. In defining the need for a new service center, this trend was considered, along with the following factors:

• The large number of aging baby boomers

• Increasing demand for hospice services by residents in long-term care facilities

• A patient population that has grown more than 8 percent annually for the past four years

• Growing awareness of hospice as the preferred choice in end-of-life care

• Strong evidence of a growing shortage of family caregivers

• A much higher demand for Agrace HospiceCare’s grief support services, which have grown at an average annual rate of 25 percent over the past five years

• The negative physical, emotional and financial toll on family members caring for patients at the end of life

The Agrace HospiceCare Rock County Service Center

Agrace HospiceCare intends to expand now to meet the community’s current and future needs. We have embarked on a $6 million capital campaign to fund the construction of a 17,000-square-foot Rock County Service Center. The handicapped-accessible facility will be a center for community life, offering space for:

• Coordination of patient care

• Training and certification for hospice workers and volunteers

• Support for the grieving

• End-of-life education for the community

Campaign Goal: $6,000,000

Based on extensive research of our community’s end-of-life needs, a total project cost was determined by a project team of architects, engineers and general contractors. The $6 million campaign goal reflects the costs of the entire project: the costs associated with purchasing land, constructing and furnishing the building, and financing and fundraising.

If gifts of $3 million or more are pledged, groundbreaking for the Agrace HospiceCare Rock County Service Center will take place in fall of 2012 with an anticipated opening in fall 2013.

How Can You Help?

Building the service center will require community-wide support. By making a financial gift to this campaign, you can share the journey with us—and help families in our area build the positive memories that come with quality hospice services.

You may contribute in several ways: cash or credit card, pledges, matching gifts or appreciated securities. Pledges paid over a three- or five-year period make it easier for donors to achieve a higher giving level.

Your gift of any amount will bring us closer to our $6 million goal. By donating to this project, you will be helping families in your community navigate one of life’s most difficult passages.
