National Healthcare Decisions Day 2011

Welcome to DaneDecisionDay.org, your Dane County resource for National Healthcare Decisions Day 2011. For many, it seems overwhelming to think of having conversations with family and other loved ones about the type of medical care you would want if you couldn’t decide. But it’s actually been found to be good medicine. In a recent study, having an advance directive that specified the patient's treatment preferences significantly reduced family stress.

Advance directives tell health care providers, in the event you can’t tell them, who you want to make your medical decisions and what treatments you would want or not want. National Healthcare Decisions Day is a reminder that all adults, regardless of age and current health, should take time to voice their wishes.

Every good for Health Care, Finances, HIPAA documents and a Living Will actually do and why they are so essential. Time will be left at the end of the lecture for your questions. This event is free and open to the public.Every good estate plan includes a Power of Attorney for Health Care, a Power of Attorney for Finances, a Living Will and a HIPAA document. But what do these documents actually do and why are they so essential? This seminar will discuss each of these documents and what each document can and cannot do, as well as problems which can arise if they are not properly drafted and executed correctly. In addition, there will be time for general questions regarding estate planning.

Meriter Hospital: It's time...Share your wishes today with your family and loved ones

Meriter Hospital invites you to stop by their National Healthcare Decisions Day booth on Wednesday, April 13th to learn about the importance of communicating your future health care wishes before a medical crisis. Meriter Social Workers will be on hand to answer your questions, provide information and assist you in completing your advance medical directive. This free event is open to the public.

It’s a one-stop shop to ensure that your healthcare wishes will be carried out.
